The government of Pakistan recently issued a passport for the third gender in Peshawar. According to Activist Farzana Riaz, new passport will help them to campaign globally for the rights of the third gender. The third genders who are also known as “khawajasiras”, in our society they were treated very badly. They were no rights at all in Pakistan.
“I have received my passport which mentions my gender as X and not as a male or female,”
She also said:
“Earlier I had a passport which had described my gender as a male. But this time I told the authorities that I won’t accept my passport if it doesn’t identify me as a transgender,”
“Now it will be more convenient for me to travel abroad because earlier I faced problems at international airports because of a contradiction in my appearance and sex mention on my passport,”
