Today, let us be grateful to one of those artists who never fails to astound us by the phenomenal ways that he is adopting in giving his all through his dexterity, keeping pace with technology and society by creating so many eye-catching and picturesque illustrations and helping us to foresee Pakistan through his artwork, his Pakistan, which is not just scenic but also alluring.
This artist is none other than the very well-known, the very deserving, the exemplary and the owner of one the most famous art-related facebook pages, known as Omar Gilani, the guy who is from the 9th largest City of Pakistan, Peshawar.
Omer Gilani is one of those lads of 80’s who is blessed with excellent imagination and observation. He is known for his digital artwork, the illustrations he makes leaves people started because this talent he has got is indeed God gifted and not everyone is blessed with it even if we have a look at today’s top artists who deeply indulge in the artwork.
The things that make his work unique and appealing are, the way he portrays people and surroundings as well as the way he focuses on the daily-life objects around him, making the illustrations look so realistic like Dhabaas, Rikshas, Motorbikes, Cycles, Kachay roads, PCO, Dentonic, Laal Ghubaaray,
Much of the illustrations include cybernetic organisms with human beings, that shows how he keeps the balance between modernity and retro.
Few of his illustrations with digital artwork are worth mentioning here.
The one where there is a guy and a girl standing in the village, carrying in their hands, a frame-to-future, where the future is filled with hopes, those hopes which the people of villages always keep. The hope to get a proper hospital and an educational institute set up for turning their lives towards a happy-and-better tomorrow.
Then there was one more that I really focused on for lengths of time. Where a lady in ripe old age is almost starting and a girl-with-short-hair is bringing up a tray of glass and plate, usually the tray we all girls bring up to be “accepted” during our rishta-days! The girl is being judged by the lady, may be because the way she is not typical-rishta-material just because she has got short hair and no ‘dupatta’. That’s how amazingly Omer has portrayed the stereotypical mindsets of the society we live in as there are always some typical rules we must fall perfectly in when it comes to being a ‘Pakistani Bahu’ Omer, your observation has left me speechless!
One more, attractive illustration that we found was where there is a road, a man is talking to some ‘rikshay wala’, a car is going, there is the shop of Butt sweets and bakers, advertisement of dentonic, utility store and many other shops. That is simply so eye-catching that one can fall in love with the city streets on just watching your artwork.
And the very creative one, where a cyborg beggar is asking someone for money. Wow! You have mixed up techno-world with homo sapiens so perfectly.
And then, the one illustrated with Peshawar 2.0, which is a social enterprise that helps to rebuild and to rebrand the City of Peshawar through innovation in Technolgy, designing and artwork. This shows how much in love you are with your hometown
