Harry Potter Series eBooks come to Apple’s iBooks
The enhanced editions of all seven books of Harry potter Series are now available for new generation of readers on iPod, iPhone and iPad.
Apple has signed a deal with Series Creator J.K Rowling to bring the Harry Potter book series to its iBooks Store.
It is going to happen the very first time that these books have been made available digitally outside of Pottermore(a website launched by the creator of the Potter series J.K. Rowling along with her agent Neil Blair in 2012)
All these seven books have been redesigned, gets new digital covers to reflect each book’s theme.
Artists also designed new customised font named Fluffy, for a three-headed dog is used for the opening letter of each chapter of book.
These enhanced editions are only restricted to Apple’s iBooks Store. It means to read these editions one has to require an Apple Inc. mobile device or a Mac computer. For devices other then Apple including Amazon’s Kindle, there is the availability of Standard electronic editions on Pottermore site launched by the Series creator back in 2012.
This deal will prove financially beneficial for J.K. Rowling and the publishers as it is giving an opportunity to resell these books. The new editions offer full color illustrations, animations and new notes from J.K. Rowling marked by quill icons which elaborates certain points of interests and gives explanations through pictures.
The new covers reference the content of each book, including a Basilisk skin on the front of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, wolf’s fur on Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and phoenix feathers for Harry Potter and the the Order of the Phoenix.
To read the e-books on Amazon kindles one were directed to Pottermore and invited to purchase the book through their Amazon accounts. But Apple is providing the facility to the readers who couldn’t purchase the books through an iTunes account, they can read on Apple devices as ePub files.
Each book is priced at £6.99, and all seven books can be downloaded through the Apple iBooks store in 32 countries worldwide. The titles will be downloadable in an additional 18 countries from November 9.
